FREE MOBs & Prizes

Big news for all fishing vessels in Nova Scotia!! Fish Safe NS is now offering FREE MOBs for all fishing vessels. You read that right, FREE. Whether you are a member of Fish Safe NS ( Pay Workers Compensation) or not, the MOBs are FREE to your vessel.

How it Works:

• Call/Text Gary, our Safety Coordinator, to book your MOB's (902-233-5887)

• Date, time & location are confirmed

• Fish Safe NS shows up. We bring some props and other items.

• We will conduct the five required emergency drills as per Transport Canada Marine Fishing Vessel regulations: Man Overboard, Fire, Medical, Flooding & Abandon Ship. We will document the five exercises, any changes to procedures for your vessel or ideas discussed during the drills.

• Once the exercise is completed, we will finalize the documentation and give it to the captain for their signature and retention.

• Another cool thing FishSafe NS is doing is that once your drills are completed, we will place a Drills Completed Sticker on the inside of your wheelhouse window. This sticker is only available to vessels that complete the drills.

• 

EXTRA BONUS For the Crews & Vessels Participating in our MOBs

• Until July 1, 2026, each vessel that participates in our MOBs will be entered to win a PLB & PFD for each crew member & captain (up to a maximum of 5 people)

How the Contest Works

• Complete our FREE MOBs, and the vessel, captain, and crew are entered to win. Each time you complete the five required drills, you receive one entry.

• Want more than one entry? Do two or three MOBs, and you will get one for each completed set of drills.(Transport Canada likes to see you do two a year)

• The contest is open until July 1, 2026, allowing all fishing vessels in Nova Scotia to participate.

The Prizes

• The Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is the Easy2-MOB Made in Germany by Weatherdock AG. This device is a full-function personal locator beacon (PLB) that you program using your mobile device. With AIS & DSC and satellite, it will reach your vessel and vessels within seven nautical miles with AIS should you be in an emergency situation. A bonus is that you can also use this PLB when you are hiking, hunting, or four-wheeling in the wilderness. (Registration is FREE and no license is required.)

• The other part of this FREE contest is the second part for each captain & crew member. You will receive a PFD of your choice. Fish Safe is not saying, here is your prize. Fish Safe NS is saying we will provide you with the PFD of your choice. Be it a foam-filled PFD or a self-inflating PFD, that choice is yours to make. Fish Safe NS will order your PFD in the type, brand, and size that will fit you. Your captain, crew and most importantly, your family will appreciate you wearing your PFD when you are working.
